Of course, saying ?it?s not as good or as well-made as Breath of the Wild” is something that can be said about a lot of games, so, again, there are only so many marks you can dock for that. It?s nowhere near as good-looking, for starters, and the combat - while better than the first game - doesn?t feel as fluid as it does in Breath of the Wild. Still, even I can acknowledge that this switch brings the game much, much closer to Breath of the Wild, and I don?t know that Oceanhorn 2 really benefits from that comparison. There?s also the addition of a few side characters to your party, which means that you?re not always solving puzzles and exploring the world on your own. Oceanhorn 2 also feels more fully-fleshed out, thanks to the switch from the first game?s isometric perspective to this one?s full-on 3D world. The story is much more engaging than the first time around, as is the combat, as are the puzzles. Plus, it doesn?t hurt that it?s a pretty solid game in its own right. In fact - as I feel like I?ve written on many occasions before - for some weird, contrarian reason, I?m much more fond of Zelda-likes than I am of the original series itself, so Oceanhorn 2 being so blatant about its inspirations sort of counts as a plus for me. To be clear, that?s not inherently disqualifying. Everything about it, from the character designs to the combat to the jars and bushes carrying hearts seems like it was lifted wholesale from Nintendo?s iconic franchise. Somehow, though, Oceanhorn 2 takes the mimicry to a whole other level. The first Oceanhorn was both very good and very indebted to Zelda. Oceanhorn 2: Knights of the Lost Realm is really influenced by Legend of Zelda.Ĭall that stating the obvious, call that lazy reviewing, call that what you will - that?s still the most important thing there is to know about this game. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Our speed test results suggest that fiber internet providers have seen some of the biggest gains in speeds. In some cases, though, your internet provider may be intentionally throttling your Wi-Fi to slow it down. There is nothing necessarily nefarious going on here, it’s just a fact of internet life.Īdvertised internet speeds are theoretically possible in lab conditions, but you aren’t going to see them most of the time-especially if you are using Wi-Fi over a router, since factors like router type and the fluctuation of wireless signals invariably bring down your speeds. One study from November 2022 found that internet users with gigabit plans (940–1,200 Mbps) in actuality got median download speeds in the range of 360–373 Mbps. advertised speeds-why are your speeds slower than what you pay for?įor almost all internet users, the actual tested internet speeds they receive are often much slower than their internet plan’s maximum advertised speeds.Īlthough you may be paying for an internet plan that technically can hit 100 Mbps, for example, it’s likely that you regularly get download speeds below that mark in a speed test. Setting baseline speed standards for broadband internet gives the FCC a benchmark to guide decisions on which internet companies qualify for government subsidies. That rule has been in place since 2015, but it’s been updated before and it may be raised again. Ping Time represents how long it takes for your Internet service provider’s equipment at your location to respond, either with an acknowledgment or an error message back to your computer.A quick explainer on how the FCC defines broadband speedsĬurrently, the federal agency defines broadband internet as any connection that delivers minimum download speeds of 25 Mbps and upload speeds of 3 Mbps. Latency measures how long it takes for data to be sent from one client to another Speed is measured in bits per second (bps) and can be described as the number of bits that are transferred in a given time period. Upload speed is the speed at which data is transmitted over a network. Most devices will report download speeds in megabytes per second (Mbps), but this number only provides a rough guide to your actual download speed, which can be significantly slower than advertised. It uses the best technology available to measure download and upload speed, as well as latency and ping time.ĭownload speed is measured in bits per second (bps) and is an important indicator of how fast a connection or device can deliver data to you. ![]() The Coyote crew does a great job at maintaining CRS’ easygoing mood, along with the investigators chasing Mister: private eye Angelica Burns (a lover of food and a certain criminal) and her apprentice Chelsea, an illiterate young woman blessed with perfect memory (Her voice is the same one later used for May Chang in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood). The members of Mister’s crew are Franca (the daughter of pirate legend Bruce with a voice (about 18 years old) older than her appearance (10-12 years) and an intriguing internal conflict about her self-worth), Katana (the light-hearted mechanic with a passion for food and a confidence that rivals Mister’s), my favorite character Bishop (the laid-back co-pilot that’s useless at pretty much everything and always finds an opportunity for a one-liner), and Swamp (a rare African-American character in anime, a chubby, mustached preacher who had a close friendship with Bruce and constantly bickers with Bishop). To me, Mister is a huge factor in making this anime into what it is.Įnveloped in Coyote Ragtime Show is a complex cast of characters. Mister is famous in the criminal underworld for wrecking havoc on various planets simply because he feels like it but, beneath the gruff exterior, Mister has a heart of gold. CRS’ premise was interesting by itself but how the narrator described this anime at the end of the trailer really grabbed my attention because it wasn’t any anime it was the “chilling, thrilling, killing, blood-spilling ride called Coyote Ragtime Show.” What action lover wouldn’t want to watch that?Īs one might’ve guessed in the previous paragraph, Mister is the main character of Coyote Ragtime Show, a cigar-chomping space pirate with an unforgettably raspy voice, a confident old man with razor-sharp wits and vivid storytelling, and the charming captain of the ship Coyote with strategies galore, tons of aliases, and a loyalty to the people he cares about. ![]() My introduction to Coyote Ragtime Show (CRS) was through a trailer, a passionately narrated 1-minute video that presented a very simple synopsis: an outlaw named Mister searches for money on a doomed planet while being hunted down by two women, both of them wanting him dead. I personally like to use a mix most of the time no matter what and, at the moment, my favorite is a blend of Granny Smith, Braeburn and/or Pink Lady.Sugar Tart Mini Bites turns up the tart with soft, coated candies that are powerfully sour and finish with a touch of sweet. One way to do this is to blend together several different kinds for a pie filling, giving your pie a mixture of textures and flavors – and covering up any apples that bake up less-than-perfectly. If the recommend apples aren’t available in your area, or if others not mentioned here are (this is the case in many apple-growing areas), try experimenting a little with different types of apples. Red Delicious and Golden Delicious, despite their promising names, are not good choices for baking, and neither are Gala and Cortland, since they tend to become mealy in pie fillings. Gravenstein, Braeburn, Fuji and Pink Lady Apples are all crisp and sturdy, as well. Jonathan, Jonagold and Pippin apples are other excellent sweet-tart choices. Granny Smiths are always a decent choice for pie, as they are easy to find, will hold up during baking and can take a lot of extra flavor from sugar and spices. The sugar serves as flavoring and helps thicken the juices of the apples as they cook, and cutting it down to compensate for super-sweet apples can sometimes change the outcome of the final pie. Baking apples should also not be too sweet, since most pie recipes call for a fair amount of sugar. The best apples will be able to offer a little bit of resistance (keep a little hint of crunch) even after a long time in the oven. Apples need to retain their shape and not turn into applesauce during baking. Texture and taste are the two most important qualities to consider in a baking apple, and the apple that you like best for everyday snacking might not hold up when put into a pie. In the past, a baker might have reached for sweet-tart Granny Smith apples without a second thought, but there are many different kinds of apples that will work just as well, if not better, in baking pies, crisp and other apple desserts. ![]() There are so many varieties of apples available in stores and at farmers markets these days, that it can be challenging to choose apples for baking. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I’m excited about the reception of the show.
